Having (somehow) been in Geneva now for an entire month, this seems like an appropriate time to reflect on my time abroad so far, exploring first impressions, personal growth, etc. But instead of doing that, I just have another weekly update for y’all. In this week’s episode, I get my CERN project and we explore Switzerland’s capital!
In this week’s brief post, we have only two days of real class, we find a place to patinage sur glace, and I make a brief aside to explore Switzerland’s paprika fascination. Oh, and Dan and I went to Paris! But you’ll have to wait a couple days to hear that story….
Today, on “Maddie’s Adventures in Switzerland”: a tram accident, lots of French food, and a day trip to a Swiss town whose mountains are straight from a wanderlust Pinterest board.
For all you curious souls asking about our itinerary for the next six months, I’ve compiled a tentative outline of our schedule. (Nana, this one’s for you.)
Once upon a time, a young Maddie fell in love with acting and the theatre. I wanted to stay with theatre for the rest of my life. But I also craved financial security and a slightly more stable future, things that theatre could not provide, and so I turned to the heavens.
So this is probably the biggest, most exciting, most impactful thing to happen in my life so far. In just over two weeks, I leave my southside Chicago neighborhood to realize my dream of the last 2.5 years: studying abroad in Geneva, Switzerland.
